Visual "Tricks"

OP Art

Op Art is short for Optical Art, art that "tricks" the eye.  This project is one that kids enjoy as they see the results of their line and pattern choices.  It has a great mathematical connection when revisiting concepts like even numbers, AB patterns, shapes, perspective, etc.

  This time we incorporated technology for those who wanted to try it.

 

 

 

Students were allowed to use a digital camera to photograph a pose that they thought would add to the visual interest of their work.

Koi Fish - Marker Painting

 

These are some examples of drawings completed by second semester students.  Students drew in pencil first, then went over it with permanent black marker.  We outlined with watercolor markers and pulled the color out using a paintbrush and plain water.

This was a teacher led drawing assignment where students were then allowed to choose colors of Crayola watercolor markers to finish the artwork.  We used a wet brush to pull out some of the color.  Outlining was done with Sharpie markers to avoid ruining their color choices.  It was interesting to see the different interpretations the kids came up with.
