Block Printing on Burlap

Students met with me at lunch to work on a special project that was used for an arts fundraiser.  They came up with their own designs, then carved them out to make prints on burlap.  We pulled some ends out to create an interesting edge, then mounted them on mat board.

Koi Fish - Marker Painting

These are some examples of drawings completed by second semester students.  Students drew in pencil first, then went over it with permanent black marker.  We outlined with watercolor markers and pulled the color out using a paintbrush and plain water.

Calder Style

I worked with a group of students after school to make mobiles inspired by Alexander Calder using tooling foil and wire.  Here's what they came up with.

Winter Landscapes

Fifth graders worked on winter landscapes using chalk pastels and tempera paint.

Fake Cake Contest

I had a group of students who wanted to create a "fake cake" for Chocopalooza during their lunch period.  They worked together for several weeks and did a great job.  They were awarded first place for the "Most Creative Use of Materials" by the panel of judges!   I'm very proud of them.
