Printmaking

Students worked hard to cut their designs for printmaking.

Some went into production and made cards to give to their family during the holidays.
We also did some printing on burlap, then mounted them on black mat board.
They did a great job!

Thanksgiving Art Cards

Students were able to show caring by creating Fall art cards with a personal note inside to distribute with Thanksgiving dinner distributions.

Clay Projects

Students worked with clay to create a variety of unique pieces.  They were finished with acrylic paint.

Van Gogh's Bedroom Paintings

Students investigated Van Gogh's three versions of the bedroom paintings, then created their own bedroom art.

Fall Watercolor Art

Students chose still life objects to compose a harvest type watercolor painting.

String Art

Students had to plan out a design with marker or colored pencil, then create string art designs using poster board and yarn.

Marine Life Art

Student examples of marine life art inspired by Wyland.  These works of art were completed using chalk pastels.

Mandala Designs

Students used math skills during art in order to equally divide a circle while making their own Mandala Designs.

Aprons

We didn't have any aprons in the art room when I arrived.  I had some donated material and limited sewing skills from several years ago (middle school Home Ec class).  Put that with some determination, an old sewing machine...we now have aprons in the art room.

Visual "Tricks"

OP Art

Op Art is short for Optical Art, art that "tricks" the eye.  This project is one that kids enjoy as they see the results of their line and pattern choices.  It has a great mathematical connection when revisiting concepts like even numbers, AB patterns, shapes, perspective, etc.

This time we incorporated technology for those who wanted to try it.

Students were allowed to use a digital camera to photograph a pose that they thought would add to the visual interest of their work.

Here's a tutorial on how to get started.

Dragon Eyes

Watercolor Pencil Art

These are some examples that I made for this art assignment.  I can't wait to post some of the student work.  They are doing a beautiful job!

Papier-mâché Sculptures

This is one of my students' favorite projects.
I love their problem solving and creativity.
